Consumer Wins Rs 16,999 for Defective Washing Machine
A man in Chandigarh bought a semi-automatic washing machine that stopped working within the warranty period.
The court said the manufacturer and sellers had to pay him Rs 16,999 because the machine was defective.
The court also said that if a product is defective and can't be fixed, the manufacturer or seller must give a refund or replace it.
The man was also paid for the trouble and legal costs.

The washing machine developed defects within the warranty period and could not be repaired.
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission held Thomson Homes, Flipkart, and Consulting Rooms liable.
The court ordered a payout of Rs 16,999 for mental agony and litigation costs.
Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the manufacturer and seller are accountable for defects within the warranty period.
