Colombia's President Asks Trump to Suspend Tariffs After Earthquake

A deadly earthquake happened in Colombia.

Many business owners in Colombia are facing very difficult times because of it.

Colombia has a new president named Abelardo de la Espriella.

He asked the president of the United States, Donald Trump, for help.

He wants the US to stop charging extra taxes, called tariffs, on things Colombia sells.

Those tariffs went up recently, from 10 percent to 12.5 percent.

Suspending them would give relief to Colombian businesses.

Coffee and oil are already exceptions and do not face the higher tariffs.

The Colombian president made his request in a post on X, and now everyone is waiting to see what President Trump will say.
