Gurgaon anti-encroachment drive reclaims over 60 km of road space

A big group called the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, or GMDA, is helping clean up the city of Gurgaon in India.

Some people had put things on public land that should stay open, like roads and footpaths.

This is called encroachment, and it can block traffic and make it hard for people to walk.

The GMDA is working to remove these illegal things.

They are using many workers, special machines, and teams to get the job done.

So far, they have cleared more than 60 kilometres of road space.

That is a very long distance, like the length of many roads across the city.

The Supreme Court of India asked them to do this within two weeks.

The GMDA promised the court they would finish soon, and they are working hard to keep that promise.

This will help make roads and footpaths free and open for everyone.
