Indian duo loses BWF World Championships thriller on golden-point rule

Indian duo loses BWF World Championships thriller on golden-point rule

Badminton is a sport played with rackets and a shuttlecock.

Normally, a player wins a game by getting 21 points first.

If both players reach 20 points, the winner must get a two-point lead.

But there is a special rule: if the score reaches 29-29, the two-point rule stops.

The very next rally decides the game, so the winner finishes with 30-29.

This special point is called a “golden point.”

Two Indian players, Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh, were playing in the World Championships for the first time.

They won the first game 21-16, but lost the second game on a golden point, 29-30.

The Turkish pair then won the final game 24-22, so the Indians lost a very close match that lasted 71 minutes.
