Madhesh Province Sees Curfews as Communal Violence Claims Three Lives
In the eastern part of Nepal, people in several districts started fighting after a man named Om Prakash Mehta was shot.
The fighting spread to many towns, and three people died.
The police, army, and other security groups were sent to stop the fighting.
The government put curfews in five districts, meaning people had to stay home after a certain time.
In one town, Janakpur, the curfew was indefinite, and in another town, Parsa, people were not allowed to gather in large groups.
The authorities are still trying to find out who fired the bullets that killed the people.
Violence spread across four districts in Madhesh Province, prompting curfews in Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, and Dhanusha.
Three people were killed: Ganesh Yadav, Jaya Prakash Mehta, and Om Prakash Mehta.
Security forces, including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepali Army, were deployed to control the unrest.
Prohibitory orders were issued in parts of Parsa district, and an indefinite curfew was imposed in Janakpur.
Authorities have not determined whether the bullets came from security personnel or other sources.
