Quad Nations Strengthen Disaster Response in Honolulu
Four countries—India, Australia, Japan, and the United States—got together in Hawaii to practice how to help people when disasters happen.
They talked about how to work together to save lives and make the Indo-Pacific region safer.
This meeting is part of their regular efforts to be ready for emergencies.
They also talked about how they helped people after a big earthquake in Myanmar earlier this year.
The goal is to make sure they can quickly and effectively provide aid when needed.
Government officials from India, Australia, Japan, and the United States met in Honolulu, Hawaii, to strengthen the Quad’s disaster-response capabilities.
The meeting was the fourth annual Quad Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Tabletop Exercise and Strategic Meeting.
The event underscored the Quad’s commitment to providing reliable and effective lifesaving support in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Quad’s coordinated response to the earthquake in Myanmar in March 2023 was highlighted as a testament to their ability to mobilize resources quickly.
The United States hosted the event from December 2-5, emphasizing the importance of HADR as a founding pillar of the Quad partnership.
