Indian Markets Rebound After Seven-Day Losing Streak, Led by Stocks

Indian stock markets rose on Thursday, August 20, after falling for seven days in a row.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex both finished higher.

Investors bought banking, finance, consumer-goods and technology stocks.

Media companies had the strongest sectoral performance.

Balrampur Chini Mills rose sharply after the government tightened limits on sugar stockpiles.

Several other companies, including Netweb Technologies and Meesho, also gained.

Gold-related finance companies benefited as gold prices continued to rise.

At the same time, tensions between the United States and Iran kept oil prices high.

Higher oil prices limited the Indian rupee’s gains against the US dollar.
