Madhya Pradesh Finance Department Tightens Spending, Seeks Fund Returns
The Madhya Pradesh government is trying to save money because they don't have a lot of it right now.
The finance department is telling other departments to be careful with how they spend money.
If they don't spend all the money they were given, they have to give the extra back.
Also, they can't take all the money at once for big projects.
They'll get some money at first, and then more later when they've used some of the first amount.
Any extra money with interest needs to be returned to the treasury by September.
Madhya Pradesh's finance department is seeking the return of unused funds from various departments.
The finance department instructed that if less money is spent than sanctioned, the extra funds should be returned.
Departments should not withdraw all funds at once for long-term projects.
Construction agencies will initially receive 66% of the funds, followed by the remaining 34% after 75% of the first installment is used.
Unused funds with interest must be deposited in the treasury by September.
