Pakistan Cricket Board Faces Backlash After England Tour Shake-Up
Pakistan’s cricket team lost the first two matches of a three-Test series in England.
The team played poorly and never scored 200 runs in any of its four innings.
After the losses, the Pakistan Cricket Board made many sudden changes.
Seven players and two coaches were called home.
Five players without international experience were sent as replacements.
Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq received particular criticism.
The article says some players may deserve to be dropped, but decisions should be based on cricket rather than punishment.
It also criticizes the board for focusing on a broadcast involving Imran Khan’s sons and for making political-looking gestures.
The writer says better planning, leadership and teamwork are needed.
Pakistan lost its first two Tests in England by 103 runs and 194 runs, respectively.
The team failed to reach 200 in any of its four innings and recorded only two individual scores above 50.
The Pakistan Cricket Board recalled seven players, the coach and his assistant, replacing them with five uncapped players and two foreign coaches.
Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were portrayed as key fall guys amid criticism of performance, conduct and fitness.
The article argues that political gestures, public scapegoating and abrupt decisions are damaging Pakistan cricket’s stability.
