Niti Aayog Official: EVs and Hybrids Deserve Different Incentives
A government official explained that electric cars (BEVs) and hybrid cars are not the same.
Electric cars don't release any pollution, but hybrid cars do.
The government wants to help electric cars more to reduce pollution and reach a goal called 'net zero' where we don't add any new pollution to the air.
The official also suggested using hydrogen cars.
They also have plans for recycling old batteries so they don't cause problems.
Niti Aayog official states BEVs and hybrids are fundamentally different.
Hybrids have emissions, unlike BEVs with zero operational emissions.
Government support should primarily target BEVs to achieve net-zero emissions.
Hydrogen vehicles or FCEVs are another technology India should quickly adopt.
Battery waste management rules are in place for responsible BEV disposal.

Emissions and Environmental Impact
Government Position: Prioritize BEVs
BEVs have zero operational emissions and should be incentivized.
Hybrid Advocates: Support Diversification
Hybrids, while fuel-efficient, still have emissions and don't contribute to net-zero goals as effectively.
Alternative Technologies
Government Position: Prioritize BEVs
Focus should be on Battery Electric Vehicles.
Hybrid Advocates: Support Diversification
Advocates the government should support alternatives like hydrogen.
