Jharkhand High Court Orders Real-Time Factory Pollution Monitoring

Jharkhand High Court Orders Real-Time Factory Pollution Monitoring

The Jharkhand High Court heard concerns about pollution from two factories in Ramgarh.

A person filed a public-interest case in 2024 on behalf of worried residents.

The court ordered the pollution control board to make surprise visits to the factories.

It also ordered the board to watch their air and water pollution data continuously.

This is meant to check whether the factories follow pollution limits.

The court said pollution can travel beyond the place where it starts.

It explained that regulators should act before environmental damage becomes permanent.

The court also said a factory does not have to be closed just because someone makes an allegation.
