IIM Coordination Forum to Meet After Eight Years
Imagine all the bosses of the top business schools in India getting together.
They're part of something called the IIM Coordination Forum.
This forum was supposed to meet every year, according to a law made in 2017, but it never happened until now.
The first meeting is finally happening in September.
They will talk about how to make their schools better.
Unlike some other groups, the forum doesn't have the power to make decisions for the schools.
The schools can decide things like how much to charge for fees or who gets admitted.
The IIM Coordination Forum will meet for the first time this month.
The forum was mandated by the IIM Act of 2017 to discuss common issues.
The forum's composition was updated in 2023 to include all IIM chairpersons.
The education ministry has convened the meeting on September 23 in Delhi.
The forum is advisory, unlike the IIT Council which has decision-making power.
