Owaisi Says UCC Violates Constitution, Criticizes Uttar Pradesh Government

Asaduddin Owaisi spoke against India’s proposed Uniform Civil Code, or UCC.

He said it could conflict with several constitutional protections.

He argued that Hindu personal laws should not automatically apply to people of other religions.

He also asked why Muslims were not exempted when tribal communities were excluded.

Owaisi criticized the Uttar Pradesh government over the demolition of mosques and a graveyard.

He said the government had not followed the required legal process.

He also called for existing government and police vacancies to be filled.

Owaisi said it was too early to know whether his party would contest elections alone or form an alliance.
