Pro Ref Admits VAR Error in Manchester Derby Goal

Manchester City played Manchester United in a football match at Old Trafford.

Erling Haaland scored a goal that gave Manchester City a 1-0 win.

The referee first said the goal was offside, which means the player was too far forward.

VAR checked the decision and decided Haaland himself was onside.

However, City teammate Enzo Fernandez was also in an offside position and tried to head the ball.

Pro Ref later said VAR should have considered whether Fernandez affected the play.

The refereeing organization called this a mistake.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick was very unhappy about the decision.
