Delhi HC Committee to Discuss District Courts' Pecuniary Jurisdiction
Some important people who work in the courts in Delhi have been asked to meet with judges from the Delhi High Court.
They want to talk about making the amount of money that district courts can handle bigger.
Right now, the limit is 2 crore rupees, but they think it should be 20 crore rupees.
They say this will help people get justice faster and make things fairer.
They also think it will help people who have to go to court but can't afford it.
The meeting is on January 30, and the people who will be going are from groups that represent lawyers in the district courts.
Representatives of the Coordination Committee of All District Courts Bar Associations and NDBA have been asked to meet with Delhi High Court judges on January 30 to discuss enhancing the pecuniary jurisdiction of district courts.
The current pecuniary limit for district courts is Rs 2 crore, and the representatives are proposing to increase it to Rs 20 crore.
The demand for enhancement is to address growing inflation, reduce delayed justice, and lower the pendency of cases.
The meeting was requested by the registrar general of the Delhi High Court, who directed the committee of high court judges to interact with the representatives.
The representatives believe that increasing the pecuniary jurisdiction will ensure speedy justice and reduce high litigation costs for common litigants.
