IHCL Sells Stake in Taj GVK

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has sold its entire 25.52% stake in Taj GVK Hotels and Resorts Ltd.

to the GVK-Bhupal family.

This means IHCL will no longer be a part-owner but will continue to manage the hotels under a long-term management agreement.

The GVK-Bhupal family will now be the main owners, holding 74.99% of the company.

IHCL's CEO, Puneet Chhatwal, said this move is part of their plan to focus on a capital-light strategy, which means they will use less of their own money to grow.

They aim to increase their return on capital to 20% by 2030.

The GVK-Bhupal family plans to grow their hotel business to 4,000 rooms in the next five years.

IHCL will continue to manage the six existing hotels and one new hotel that will open in Bengaluru in 2026.
