Unlikely Pen Pals: Diverse Historical Figures' Letters

Sometimes, people with very different ideas write letters to each other.

Mahatma Gandhi, who believed in peace, wrote to Adolf Hitler, who caused a lot of violence, trying to stop a war.

Even though they disagreed, they wrote to each other.

Abraham Lincoln, the U.S. leader, and Karl Marx, who came up with communism, knew each other through a friend.

Einstein and Freud wrote about war, trying to understand why people fight.

Sadly, J. Edgar Hoover, who was in charge of the FBI, sent Martin Luther King Jr. a mean letter trying to make him look bad.
