India to Seek Japan Market Access for Basmati Rice Exports

India to Seek Japan Market Access for Basmati Rice Exports

India wants to sell more basmati rice in Japan.

Japan limits how much rice can be imported and charges duties on extra imports.

Piyush Goyal said India will discuss this issue with Japan.

The discussion may happen when the two countries review their trade agreement.

India also wants to export more processed foods to Japan.

These foods must meet Japan’s quality and safety rules.

Goyal said the visit also focused on investment, manufacturing and technology cooperation.

He said Japan may welcome 300,000 Indians in different economic roles.
