Karen Khachanov Reaches US Open Semifinals After Blockx Retires
Karen Khachanov reached the semifinals of the US Open.
His opponent, Alexander Blockx, had several injuries during the match.
Blockx had a rib problem before the match and wore support on his ankle and thigh.
He called for medical help and eventually stopped playing.
At that point, Khachanov was ahead 6-2, 7-5, 3-2.

This is Khachanov’s first US Open semifinal since 2022.

The retirement came after one hour and 38 minutes at Flushing Meadows in New York.
The world No. 50 Khachanov reached his first US Open semifinal since 2022 and first Grand Slam semifinal since the 2023 Australian Open.
Khachanov will play either top seed Alexander Zverev or Botic van de Zandschulp in the semifinals.
