Rajasthan Speaker Rejects Congress Criticism on MLA Guidelines
The Rajasthan Assembly Speaker, Vasudev Devnani, has rejected criticism from Congress leaders about new guidelines for MLAs.
The guidelines restrict MLAs from raising state-level policy issues or matters older than five years.
Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, say these guidelines are unfair and limit the rights of legislators.
They believe it goes against the spirit of democracy.
However, the Speaker says these guidelines are not new and have been in place since 2020.
He also mentioned that the term 'tucch' (insignificant) used in the guidelines is taken from the Lok Sabha rule book.
The Speaker has called for an all-party meeting to discuss the smooth functioning of the House.
