India’s First Indigenous Multi-Purpose Vessel Samarthak Delivered

The Indian Navy has received a new ship called Samarthak.

It is the Navy’s first Multi-Purpose Vessel built entirely in India.

The ship is not mainly a fighting ship at the front of a battle.

Instead, it can help test weapons, sensors, drones and other equipment.

It can also watch the sea, patrol offshore areas and assist during disasters.

This allows India’s main warships to focus on combat duties.

More than 75% of the ship’s components were made in India.

The vessel is part of India’s effort to build more of its defence equipment domestically.
