Satellite Signal Triggers High Alert In Jammu And Kashmir
Security teams found a signal from a satellite communication device in a forested area of Jammu and Kashmir.
The signal was detected near Sumb in Samba district.
The device stopped transmitting soon afterward.
The Army and police surrounded the area and began searching.
Drones were used to look over the forests and hills.
Officials are checking whether the device belonged to someone connected to people across the border.
They have not found a phone or other suspicious item so far.
The search is continuing because the area is considered strategically sensitive.
Security agencies detected an Iridium satellite communication signal around 11:15 am in Sumb, Samba district.
The Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Special Operations Group launched a cordon and search operation.
The device went off the air, and no satellite phone or suspicious material had been recovered.
