Pathirage Wins Asian Games Gold, India Takes Double Podium

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage won the men’s javelin throw at the Asian Games.

India’s Yashvir Singh finished second and won the silver medal.

His throw traveled 85.72 meters, which was his personal best.

India’s Rohit Yadav finished third with a throw of 84.35 meters.

This gave India two medals in the same event.

Pathirage had already won gold at the Commonwealth Games earlier in the year.

India’s usual javelin star, Neeraj Chopra, did not compete because of an ankle ligament injury.

Reports differ slightly on whether Pathirage’s winning throw measured 88.55 or 88.33 meters.
