Kerala Highlights Senior Citizens Department on International Older Persons Day
Kerala marked International Day of Older Persons on October 1.
Chief Minister V D Satheesan highlighted the state’s Department of Senior Citizens.
He said the department is now working and was promised during the election campaign.
The department is described as the first of its kind in India.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said older people remain important.
He said their voices should be heard at home, in society and in the economy.
He also said older people can share valuable experience and learn new things.
The ministers said caring for older people is a responsibility shared by every generation.
