Chennai Airport Tops Punctuality Chart for Three Months
Chennai Airport has been the best in India for three months in a row when it comes to flights leaving on time.
This means that most flights from Chennai leave when they are supposed to.
The airport is doing well because it uses its resources wisely, works well with everyone involved, and has fewer flights and weather problems than other big airports.
IndiGo, a major airline, also helps by being on time a lot.
Other airports like Bengaluru and Mumbai didn't respond to questions about why they didn't do as well.
Chennai handles about 408 flights a day, which is a bit less than last year.
Chennai Airport topped the punctuality chart for three consecutive months (September - November) with on-time performance percentages of 91.6%, 91.4%, and 86.4% respectively.
Mumbai Airport ranked lowest in punctuality for all five months (July - November).
Chennai Airport's success is attributed to optimal resource utilization, effective coordination, and fewer flights compared to other metros, with the exception of Kolkata.
IndiGo operates over 60% of all scheduled flights at Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, significantly influencing the airports' punctuality records.
Chennai Airport handles an average of 408 daily flight movements in December, which is 6% lower than the previous year.
