Drug Labs Report Substandard and Spurious Medicines
Government labs regularly check medicines to ensure they are good quality.
In July 2025, they found that some medicines didn't meet the required standards, which means they might not work as intended.
They also found some fake medicines.
These medicines were made by unauthorized manufacturers using brand names owned by other companies.
Officials say the failure is specific to the drug products of the batch tested and they are taking action to remove these substandard and spurious drugs.
Central Drugs Laboratories identified 46 drug samples as 'not of standard quality'.
State drug testing laboratories identified 97 drug samples as NSQ.
Seven spurious drug samples originated from Bihar.
One spurious drug sample originated from CDSCO North Zone, Ghaziabad.
Officials said the failure is specific to the drug products of the batch tested by the government laboratory.
