HKMCF and IIMR Partner to Promote Millet-Based Nutrition
Two big organizations, Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF) and ICAR–Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), have teamed up to make food healthier and more sustainable.
They signed an agreement to work together on creating millet-based food recipes, sharing knowledge, and teaching people about the benefits of millets.
HKMCF already serves a lot of meals every day through government programs, and now they want to make those meals even better by using more millets.
Millets are good for health and the environment.
The leaders of both organizations were present at the signing ceremony in Hyderabad.
Millets are deeply rooted in India’s traditional food culture and are vital for addressing present day challenges of health, sustainability, and food security.
This collaboration will help explore innovative ways to integrate millets into food programs for the benefit of society at large.
It will also connect millet growing farmers to big kitchens like HKMCF for the supply of millets from farms, ensuring millets in every individual's plate and diet.
HKMCF and IIMR signed an MoU to promote millet-based food initiatives.
The collaboration aims to enhance nutritional security and sustainable food systems.
Key activities include recipe development, knowledge sharing, training, and awareness programs.
HKMCF currently serves 2.5 lakh meals daily through various government programs.
