Supreme Court Upholds Land Cancellation to Trust, Orders Transparent Allotment
Imagine a big piece of land was given to a group named after a famous person's grandma.
But, the group didn't pay for the land on time.
The government then took the land back.
The Supreme Court agreed that the government was right to do this because the group didn't follow the rules.
The court said the government should make sure that when it gives land away, it's fair and for the good of everyone.
They also pointed out that the original process of giving the land away wasn't done very carefully.
Supreme Court affirmed cancellation of land allotment to Kamla Nehru Memorial Trust (KNMT).
KNMT, named after Rahul Gandhi's great grandmother, failed to make timely payments.
The court cited systemic concerns in the original land allocation process.
UPSIDC was faulted for not following the public trust doctrine.
Court directed UP government and UPSIDC to ensure future land allotments are transparent.
