The Odyssey becomes Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing film at $1.1 billion
Christopher Nolan is a famous movie director who makes very big movies.
His newest movie is called The Odyssey, and it is based on a very old Greek poem.
The story follows a hero king named Odysseus who tries to get home after a long war.
The movie made more than one billion dollars around the world.
That means millions of people bought tickets to see it in theaters.
It is now the most successful movie Nolan has ever made.
Before this, his Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises held that record.
Matt Damon plays Odysseus, and Anne Hathaway plays his wife Penelope.
The movie was filmed in many countries, like Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, and Malta.
It is also the second-biggest movie of 2026 so far.
The Odyssey has become Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing film ever, crossing $1.1 billion worldwide after four weekends in cinemas.
The epic surpassed The Dark Knight Rises, which finished its theatrical run with about $1.085 billion globally.
The film has grossed $461.1 million in North America and $643.6 million internationally, with sources citing worldwide totals of $1.104–1.105 billion.
Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, with Anne Hathaway as Penelope, alongside Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
Made for an estimated $250 million, it is the first feature film shot entirely on IMAX 70mm film cameras and the second-highest-grossing film of 2026 so far.
