KSU Accepts Meghalaya Government Talks After Shillong Rally Violence

The Khasi Students’ Union, or KSU, has agreed to meet Meghalaya’s chief minister.

The meeting will take place on August 26 in Shillong.

The group has five main demands for the government.

These include action against officials connected to a cement project hearing.

The KSU also wants stronger rules to protect state residents and changes to recruitment practices.

A KSU bike rally on August 19 became violent, according to police.

Police reported damaged vehicles, injuries and vehicles being set on fire.

Four senior KSU leaders were arrested and are being held in Shillong District Jail.
