NRIs Outpace Resident Indians in Long-Term Investing
People of Indian origin living abroad (NRIs) are investing more for the long term compared to people living in India.
A study shows that NRIs are investing a lot of money each month through a plan called SIPs and keeping their money invested for many years, even through tough times like the COVID-19 crash.
Most of these investors are in their mid-careers.
The amount they are investing is much higher than what people in India and the general investment industry are investing.
NRIs show greater commitment to long-term investing than Resident Indians.
Over 75% of NRIs have remained invested for more than five years.
Average monthly NRI SIP amount is ₹6,486, exceeding the industry average.
The majority of investors (74% of NRIs) are aged 31-45, indicating mid-career focus.
NRI SIPs are more than double the mutual fund industry average.
