Maharashtra to Pioneer Geo-Mapping of Waqf Assets
Maharashtra is starting a project to map and keep track of properties owned by the Waqf Board, which manages religious and charitable assets.
This is like making a detailed map of all the land and buildings.
The goal is to make managing these properties easier and more transparent.
The project will involve mapping about 45,000 properties, which should help identify any problems like illegal use of the land.
This will help the government better manage these properties and potentially earn more money from them, with the goal of increasing annual revenue substantially.
This digital system will also help resolve disputes and plan for development of the properties.
Maharashtra will be the first state in India to geo-map Waqf Board assets.
The project aims to increase transparency and efficiency in managing religious and charitable properties.
Around 45,000 properties and sub-units will be geo-mapped across approximately 92,000 acres.
The project is expected to boost the Maharashtra State Board of Waqf’s annual rental income.
The initiative includes an asset management information system and a mobile application for data collection.
