France condemns Iran over diplomat intimidation incident

France is very upset because two of its diplomats in Iran were detained, questioned, and one was assaulted by Iranian security services.

This happened on Sunday in Tehran.

France says this is a serious violation of international law and the agreements that protect diplomats.

The French Foreign Minister has strongly condemned the incident and demanded that Iran investigate, punish those responsible, and ensure the safety of French diplomats.

Iran has not yet responded to these allegations.

The two diplomats were working on programs to support Iranian civil society, including artists and scientists.

France has brought the diplomats back to France and expressed solidarity with them.
