MGNREGS Achieves Near-Universal Employment in Warangal
The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has been very successful in Warangal district.
Almost every household that asked for work got it in the last two years.
The government says there are no unpaid wages, and the money is sent directly to the workers' bank accounts.
The local MP, Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, is happy with these results and wants more days of work, more jobs for women and marginalised communities, and better training and infrastructure.
MGNREGS achieved near-universal employment in Warangal with 99.99% of households employed in 2024-25 and 99.97% in 2025-26.
Average employment per household was 41.12 person-days in 2024-25 and 27.89 person-days in 2025-26.
Wages were transferred directly to workers' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
There are no pending wage dues in Warangal district.
Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, the local MP, praised the scheme's implementation and advocated for further improvements.
