India's December Inflation Rises to 1.33%

India's inflation rate, which measures how much prices for things like food and clothes are going up, was 1.33% in December.

This is higher than November's 0.71%, but still lower than the government's target of 2-6%.

Food prices, which make up a big part of what people buy, went down compared to last year, but some items like vegetables and meat got more expensive.

The government and economists are watching these numbers to make sure prices stay stable.

The government will start using a new way to measure inflation next month, which will include more items and a newer base year.

The central bank, which controls interest rates, expects inflation to rise in the coming months and is planning to meet in February to decide if they should cut rates.
