ECI Orders Strict Action Against BLOs for Negligence

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued strict guidelines for taking action against Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who are negligent or misbehave.

BLOs are responsible for keeping the voter lists accurate.

If they don't do their job properly, the District Election Officer (DEO) can suspend them and start disciplinary proceedings.

If the mistake is very serious, the DEO can even file a police report with the approval of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

The CEO can also take action on their own or based on reports from the DEO.

All actions must be completed within six months and reported to the ECI.

This is to make sure that the voter lists are always correct and trustworthy.
