Kerala to Set Up Standalone AYUSH University; Panel Drafts Bill
Kerala is a state in India.
Its leaders have decided to build a brand-new university there.
This university will focus on AYUSH, which means old ways of healing like Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
A small team of four people was chosen to write the rules for the new university.
The team will study how AYUSH schools work before making its plan.
The plan must be ready within two months.
Once the university opens, all the AYUSH schools in Kerala will belong to it.
Students can study traditional healing in one place, all together.
The university will also help with research and making medicines.
Leaders hope this will make AYUSH education better and known around the world.
Kerala will establish a standalone AYUSH University, with a four-member committee constituted to draft the legislation.
Health Minister K Muraleedharan announced the decision on Tuesday, calling it a historic step for an exclusive AYUSH academic ecosystem.
The university will bring all AYUSH institutions currently affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences under a single umbrella.
The proposed headquarters is the School of Fundamental Research in Ayurveda at Tripunithura near Kochi.
The committee must submit the draft legislation within two months after examining structure, governance, research programmes and existing institutions.
