Gurgaon Awards NGO Rs 700 per Stray Dog Sterilization
The city of Gurgaon has given a job to a group called Maa Baglamukhi Sewa Samiti to help control the number of stray dogs.
They will sterilize and vaccinate the dogs to keep them healthy and stop them from having too many babies.
The city will pay ₹700 for each dog that is sterilized and ₹250 for each vaccination.
Some people think this amount is too low and that it won't cover all the costs.
The group says they can do it because they will buy things in bulk and not make a profit.
The city hopes this will make the streets safer and healthier for everyone.
MCG awarded a two-year contract to Maa Baglamukhi Sewa Samiti for sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs.
The NGO will be paid ₹700 per dog for sterilization and ₹250 for anti-rabies vaccination.
The contract covers all four zones of Gurgaon and will run until November 28, 2027.
Residents and veterinarians express skepticism about the cost allocation, stating it is too low to cover expenses.
The initiative aims to control the rising stray dog population and eliminate the rabies threat in the city.
