NTA Seeks Exam Centres Ahead of NEET-UG Computer Testing
The NEET-UG medical entrance exam is expected to be taken on computers next year.
The agency that organizes the exam, called NTA, needs enough places with computers and other technology.
It asked AICTE to find out which government colleges and universities have suitable facilities.
AICTE then contacted leaders of government-run technical and higher education institutions.
They were asked about their computer systems and available space.
This work is happening after a paper leak earlier this year.
The government has said the exam will no longer use only paper and pens.
NTA is being reorganized while it prepares for this change.
The National Testing Agency has begun planning computer-based NEET-UG examinations for next year.
NTA asked the All India Council for Technical Education to gather details about government institutions’ IT infrastructure and available space.
AICTE contacted vice chancellors, directors and principals of government-run technical and higher education institutions.
The government has said NEET-UG will shift from pen-and-paper testing to computer-based testing next year.
The planning comes during an overhaul of NTA following the paper leak earlier this year.
