Government cleanliness drives earn over Rs 5,000 crore from scrap

The government has been running cleanliness campaigns in its offices for five years.

Officials say these efforts earned more than Rs 5,000 crore by selling discarded materials.

They also cleared enough space to free 1,000 lakh square feet in offices.

More than 24 lakh places were cleaned, and about two crore old files were removed.

The campaign is also meant to help offices finish pending work faster.

Special Campaign 6 will focus on collecting, separating and safely disposing of waste, including electronic waste.

Jitendra Singh said the campaign shows that rubbish can sometimes become useful and valuable.

Officials want cleanliness and efficient work to continue throughout the year, not only during the main campaign period.
