Govt Extends Price Caps on Knee Implants till Nov 2026
The Indian government has prolonged the price limits on knee implants until November 2026.
This decision was made because the previous deadline had passed on November 15.
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) adjusts the prices each year to account for inflation.
Currently, a titanium alloy implant costs Rs 51,563, and a revision knee replacement system costs Rs 83,547.
The NPPA first set these price caps in 2017 because the high trade margins were making these implants unaffordable for many patients.
