Zootopia 2 Crosses $1 Billion Globally
Zootopia 2, the sequel to the 2016 hit Zootopia, is making a lot of money at the movie theaters.
It's going to be the second movie in 2025 to make over $1 billion worldwide.
The movie has already made almost $1 billion, with $232.7 million in the US and $753.4 million in other countries.
It had a huge opening over the Thanksgiving holiday, breaking many records.
The movie's creators are very happy because people are enjoying it a lot in theaters.
It's one of only 13 animated movies ever to make over $1 billion, and most of those are also made by Disney.
The film's success has also increased interest in the original Zootopia and the spin-off series Zootopia+ on Disney+.
Zootopia 2 crossed the $1 billion mark globally after just 17 days of release, becoming the second film of 2025 to reach this milestone.
The film earned $232.7 million in North America and $753.4 million internationally, with a record-breaking $559.5 million global opening over the Thanksgiving weekend.
This success marks the first time Walt Disney Animation Studios has delivered back-to-back billion-dollar releases, following Moana 2's success last year.
Since 2013, the studio has released five films that have crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide: Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana 2, Zootopia, and Zootopia 2.
The film's strong box office performance has reignited interest in the franchise on OTT, with viewership of Zootopia and Zootopia+ clocking more than 725 million hours viewed globally on Disney+.
