Gandhinagar Offers Free E-Bus Travel to Women on Raksha Bandhan

Gandhinagar offered free e-bus rides to women on Raksha Bandhan.

The festival is a day when sisters often visit their brothers and tie them rakhis.

More than 2,254 women used the free travel arrangement.

Another 202 young children travelling with them were also allowed to ride without tickets.

In total, 6,381 people used the city’s e-buses that day.

Officials said the number of beneficiaries could rise because buses ran until late at night.

The buses continued on their regular routes during the busy festival period.

The city said the program was meant to make travel safer, easier and more affordable.
