Indian Housing Market: Sales Volume Down, Values Up in 2025
Imagine many people buying houses, but fewer houses being sold in the first half of the year.
Though fewer houses were sold, the value of the houses sold increased.
This is because people are buying more expensive houses, which shows they have more money to spend.
This trend was observed across eight big cities in India, including Delhi-NCR, where the value of houses sold increased significantly.
Experts suggest this shows people are looking for better quality and location when buying homes.
Housing sales declined 5% in the first half of 2025 across eight major Indian cities.
Sales value increased 9% to Rs 3.59 lakh crore, despite the sales volume decrease.
The report covers primary housing markets in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad.
Delhi-NCR's market share in value terms rose to 26% during the period.
Average ticket size increased by 14% to Rs 1.42 crore.
