Fast-track court for paper leaks hits first hurdle
The Indian government set up a special fast-track court to quickly handle cases related to paper leaks, like the NEET-UG exam leak.
However, the first hearing had to be postponed because no lawyer from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was present, and the defense lawyer had another case to attend to.
The court will now hear the case on August 3.
Meanwhile, the CBI has filed charges against 13 people involved in the NEET-UG paper leak.
Some critics are questioning the effectiveness of these fast-track courts, while supporters believe the government is taking steps to improve the system.
The first hearing of the fast-track court for paper leak cases was adjourned due to the absence of a CBI lawyer and a request by the defense counsel.
The court directed the director of prosecution to ensure a public prosecutor is present for the next hearing on August 3.
The CBI filed a chargesheet against 13 accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case.
Critics, including Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das, have questioned the effectiveness of the fast-track courts.
The chargesheet will be placed before the special Fast Track Court on the next hearing date.
