Maharashtra ATS uncovers fake religious trust fraud
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) found a fake religious trust called Gulzar-e-Raza.
Four people made this trust to collect money from the public for charity, but they used fake documents and kept the money for themselves.
They opened many bank accounts and lied about the trust's registration.
The ATS found out because the trust was not registered properly, and the numbers they used belonged to another organization.
Two of the accused have been arrested, and the ATS is still investigating how the money was used and if more people were involved.
Maharashtra ATS discovered a fake religious trust named Gulzar-e-Raza that collected ₹4.73 crore in donations.
The trust used forged documents, including fake registration numbers and PAN details, to open multiple bank accounts.
Four accused individuals were identified, with two already arrested and efforts ongoing to trace the remaining suspects.
The trust was neither registered with the Charity Commissioner in Beed nor listed on the Union government’s Darpan portal.
The ATS found discrepancies in the trust’s registration and bank details, indicating deliberate forgery and misappropriation of funds.
