India Abstains on UN Resolution for Ukrainian Children's Return
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted on a resolution that asks Russia to send back Ukrainian children who were taken from Ukraine during the war.
Most countries voted in favor, but some, like India, chose not to vote either way.
The resolution says Russia should stop taking children and send them back home.
Russia says the resolution is not fair and that some children were moved to keep them safe.
The UNGA has been asking Russia to leave Ukraine for a long time, and this issue is part of that bigger problem.
India abstained in the UNGA vote on a resolution demanding the return of Ukrainian children from Russia.
The resolution was adopted with 91 votes in favor, 12 against, and 57 abstentions.
The resolution expresses deep concern about the fate of Ukrainian children separated from their families since 2014.
Russia rejected the accusations, arguing that the resolution contains mendacious accusations and ignores the evacuation of children from combat zones.
UNGA President Annalena Baerbock emphasized that the issue of returning Ukrainian children is linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
