Six Arrested in Alleged Delhi Jal Board Tender Irregularities

Six people were arrested over sewage-treatment plant contracts in Delhi.

One of them is former minister Satyendar Jain.

Another is former Delhi Jal Board chief Udit Prakash Rai.

The Anti-Corruption Branch says the tender rules may have been written to help a company called Euroteck Environment.

It also says a planned test project was not carried out and some important treatment rules were left out.

Investigators say officials, private people and middlemen exchanged documents and messages about the tenders.

The agency alleges that money moved through intermediary companies and that Rs 1.52 crore reached Rai and his relatives.

Arvind Kejriwal says Jain was targeted for political reasons and that the case is false.

The investigation is still continuing, and the accused are entitled to due process.
