India Probes Nylon-6 Chip Imports from China, Russia
India has started an investigation into nylon-6 chips and granules imported from China and Russia.
These are raw materials used in making textiles and other products.
A company called Gujarat Polyfilms said that these cheap imports are hurting local businesses.
The government is looking into this to see if the imports are being sold at unfairly low prices, which could harm Indian companies.
If they find that to be true, they might add extra taxes on these imports to make things fair.
Some people think this is a good idea to protect local businesses, while others worry it might make exports more expensive.
India has initiated an anti-dumping probe into nylon-6 chip imports from China and Russia.
The investigation was triggered by a complaint from Gujarat Polyfilms Pvt. Ltd. alleging price suppression and market distortion.
Nylon-6 chips are primarily used in textile applications and are technically substitutable with domestic products.
Imports from China and Russia have increased significantly, with China's share rising to 54% in FY25.
The DGTR has found prima facie evidence of dumping and a causal link to injury of domestic producers.
