ASI Digitizes Estampages for BharatSHRI Project
The Archaeological Survey of India is working on a project to turn old estampages into digital copies.
These are special copies of inscriptions that tell us about history.
The project, called BharatSHRI, will put these digital copies online so that anyone can see them.
This includes not just the pictures but also the written words and important information about them.
The goal is to make it easy for people who study history and the general public to access these historical records.
The Archaeological Survey of India is digitizing all estampages for the BharatSHRI project.
The project aims to make estampages, transcripts, and metadata available online.
The digitized materials will be accessible to scholars and the general public.
The initiative is part of the central government's Bharat Shared Repository of Inscriptions.
K. Munirathnam Reddy, director of epigraphy, is overseeing the project.
